“I would think twice before using their services”
Gord's Auto Repair
Things learned? Having a mechanic you can trust is very key - this was not the case. On top of that, I've reaffirmed that customer service is really big to me. And that the cleanliness and morale of the staff might be fair criteria to judge a store. This place was dumpy.
What really bugs me is that this guy Steve yells, disrespects, and swears at a 21 year old 5'6 asian who gets by on Junior passes at movie theatres and lift tickets (people think I'm in high school). I wouldn't yell and scream at someone half or a third of my age, and can't see myself being 50-60 and yelling a 20 yr. old who looks 16. Like come on, I'm a poor university student who really likes cars and is trying to make it work, despite it being such a money pit; I don't have a lot of money and can't afford to pay out that kind of cash right now. I'd rather take it off insurance and save some cash to do it later as money is tight both with me and my family. I don't know anything about cars and I'm trying to learn (I asked if I could stand by and watch the procedure). The other thing that bugs me is that I'm the first one to calm down and just let it go, meanwhile he's still fuming and yelling at me over spilt milk.
I understand that he might have been stressed out with other orders, and that he might be frustrated with my noobiness, but A. we agreed on $125, B. he also said "don't worry about it, I'll take care of it" C. grow up, I'm just a kid and he's a full grown adult. How is it that he's the first to snap and lose it, and I'm the one to calm down first.
Welcome to the real world I guess. Jeez.

Just had my 92 Ford e150 propane converter inline 6 serviced after a significant breakdown. Van reopaired by Harvey in less than 2.5 hours and now runs like it hasn't for last 5 years! Great Service, and a fair price. I never visited these guys before but I will be Back!
I had similar negative experience(s) with Gord's re:Mohammad. I don't trust him farther than I can throw my car! Hard to believe Steve would hire such a guy. I had to stop going to Gord's because I was afraid Mohammad would rip me off even for the seemingly smallest thing.
I was having trouble with my older (1978) RV that runs on an IMPCO propane system. The propane regulator was freezing up and it was stalling every five minutes or so. After trying to fix the problem by 'burping' the coolant system etc. I finally looked for help in the vicinity of my rig.
The first garage I spoke with dismissed my problem as a fried regulator that would require replacing $500.00 plus labor. (As it turned out the Regulator wasn't even the problem).
The only shop listed for vehicle propane repair with google was in New Westminster - (I couldn't drive all the way there with the constant freezing and stalling). So I asked the local Lordco shop and they recommended Gord's Automotive (310 E 2nd Vancouver). I went to them and was VERY pleased with their service! Harvey (their mechanic) was very familiar with IMCO systems. Fixed my problem and few others, that my backyard mechanic missed, that would have given my grief down the road. There was an open discussion before any work was done, and my RV works better than ever!
I agree totally with Bill, there are two sides to every story. The $900.00 spent were for repairs done over the period of 1 year. Repairs for overheating, oil leak and tune-up, nothing to do with intermitant long crank. We spent hours trying to duplicate the problem and find a fix for this problem for which we did not charge Melanie a cent. After she bounced a $126.70 cheque for a previous repair, which we allowed her to be on a payment plan, I decided to refer her to a dealership, which also could not find the problem and sent her car to the auction and gladly sold her a newer Kia Sportage. If you feel so strongly that you where mistreated go before a judge to hear both sides of the story. At the end of the day anyone with access to the internet can write anything they want True or Not. Thank- you for reading. Steve

Wow! Remember there is always two sides to every story, I find your stories very interesting.I have been dealing with Gords Auto Repair for 8 years and never had one complaint or concern. These guys are awesome!
not happy. Mohammad could not diagnose and fix my car 6 months and $900.00 later. Took it to my dealership, and it was fixed in two hours. Also, found two vacuum hoses mysteriously disconnected.
this Mohammad guy is a lair and a CROOK !!
Crooks. They overcharge for everything but play nice guys in an attempt to look honest. Rip-off artists. AVOID.
tried to charge me $750...when I called around 2 other shops offered to do it for 400 - 500 and then when I said I was going to have it picked up, he charged me $90 just for looking at my vehicle...unreal
