Cowan Office Supplies recently donated $1000 to Nelson C.A.R.E.S which came from helping the environment!  Cowan Office Supplies collects used inkjet and toner cartidges from their commercial and retail customers and ships them to a company named Korectype.  Korectype is a Canadian company that then remanufactures and recylcles these cartridges and refills them and packages them for sale at a price that is much lower than the original price.  It's is a beautiful closed loop that not only saves thousands of inkjet and toner cartridges from ending up in our local landfill, but also helps local charities.  Over the past 10 years Cowan's has donated over $10 000 to local charities such as a yearly $500 LVR Bursary, Kooteny Society for Community Living, Castlegar Community Services, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation, all from this program.  To help with the program simply bring your used cartrdges into Cowan's at 517 Victoria St in Nelson BC.  To find out more visit www.cowans.org.
